Overview
Hanmer Holiday Homes required a powerful, flexible booking system to support their growing accommodation business. Their existing platform, could not be customised to meet their operational needs, creating limitations across bookings, integrations, and day-to-day management.
Byte Media was engaged to design and develop a fully custom solution using SilverStripe, delivering a seamless customer experience alongside a robust, tailored backend system.
The Challenge
The client had outgrown their existing booking platform and was facing several key issues.
Their previous system, was restrictive and did not allow for the level of customisation required to support their business model. This made it difficult to adapt workflows, manage bookings efficiently, and integrate with other tools.

The Solution
We designed and developed a custom booking system built on SilverStripe, tailored specifically to the way Hanmer Holiday Homes operates.
The public website was built to provide a smooth and user-friendly booking journey. Users can easily browse properties, view availability in real time, and complete bookings online with confidence. Behind the scenes, we developed a powerful, custom admin interface that gives the client full control over their business. This includes managing property listings, pricing structures, availability, and customer data, all within a system designed around their workflow.
We also implemented a range of custom integrations to streamline operations:
- Xero integration for financial management and invoicing
- SMS notifications for booking confirmations and updates
- Connectivity with external booking platforms
- A dedicated homeowner portal where property owners can log in and track bookings and performance
Every aspect of the system was built to remove limitations and give the client complete flexibility.
